Glaiza de Castro bags Gawad Pilipino Women’s Rights and Protection award

Glaiza de Castro looks proud and happy after being awarded last Monday, December 18, by the Gawad Pilipino Year-End Awards.

The Kapuso star was recognized for her works and advocacy in promoting women’s rights. She was awarded this year’s Media People’s Choice Award for  Outstanding Women’s Rights and Protection Advocate.

Glaiza posted on her Instagram her heartfelt appreciation for the award.

[I didn’t expect that aside from acting and singing, I received a new honor. Thank you, Gawad Pilipino, for continually giving recognition without asking for anything in return. And to UN Women, Safe Cities Manila for sharing information and helping women have a safe place.]

The Contessa actress formally started her women’s right advocacy back in 2016 when she was named UN Women Celebrity Supporter. But even way back in 2015, Glaiza had been organizing and participating in events that focused on gender equality and women empowerment. Glaiza helped organize the Babae Power that aims to “build a progressive community with co-artists and women who like to share their passions through music, arts and crafts.”
