Philippines Pia Wurtzbach wins Miss Universe 2015

After a mistake in the call by the host, Pia Wurtzbach wins. Pia Wurtzbach's answer on why she should win ‪#‎MissUniverse2015‬: "To be the Miss Universe is both an honor and responsibility. I will use my voice to influence the youth and raise awareness on causes like HIV. I want to show the world rather the universe that I am confidently beautiful with a heart." The Miss Universe pageant ended with a shocking twist Sunday night as host Steve Harvey     mistakenly named the wrong contestant the winner and then, had to strip her of her crown. Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez was declared the new Miss Universe, but her reign lasted only a few minutes as Harvey soon realized he misread his cue cards. Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, who had been originally named the first runner-up had actually won the pageant, Harvey explained.

 A stunned Alonzo Wurtzbach was then escorted to center stage and the tiarra that Gutierrez was wearing was removed and placed on Miss Philippines' head just before the program ended. Donald Trump's pageant days are over after his controversial comments about immigrants created a backlash, but the Miss Universe show must go on. The pageant that pits international beauties against one another returns to Las Vegas on Sunday to crown a winner on a new network, with a new Spanish-language broadcaster and a new pageant owner. The women, between ages 19 and 27, represent 83 countries. For the first time, viewers at home will get to weigh in, with their votes being tallied in addition to four in-person celebrity judges.

After a mix-up, Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach was crowned Miss Universe 2015 on Sunday, December 20 at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. First runner-up was Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez  after a "horrible mistake" by host Steve Harvy. Second runner-up was Miss USA, Olivia Jordan. The show was hosted by Emmy Award-winning TV personality and comedian Steve Harvey and actress Roselyn Sanchez. It was judged by Emmitt Smith, Niecy Nash, Olivia Culpo, and Perez Hilton.
